Sawyer Goes To The Lake
I got to spend the Valentine’s Day weekend up in my beloved Mountains with my wife and best friend, Michelle, and our two children, Sawyer, and Finn. They are furry four-legged children. The trip was awesome! I didn’t want to come home and thought very seriously about running away. But then I wouldn’t be able to afford internet service anymore and I didn’t want to deprive y’all of my presence. So I reluctantly returned home.
We met a couple with their four legged children that used to live here in the city. When I mentioned that I wanted to one day move to the mountains they asked me what I was waiting for? When I started giving all the usual excuses, my work, her work, bills, etc… they said that’s what they used to say but decided to do it anyway. This made a real impact on my wife and I and we started a serious discussion about how to make it happen. We are going to stop reciting all the reasons we can’t do it and look for ways to see how we can do it.
Anyway, that’s not the subject of this post. It’s really not much of a post at all. I just wanted to show you some video I shot of Sawyer and I taking a little hike around Lake Sherando in the mountains. It’s a 38 minute video so I’ll forgive you if you don’t want to watch it. Wait a minute. No I won’t forgive you! Who doesn’t want to watch 38 minutes of a cute furry fuzzball having a good time in the outdoors? However, I must apologize in advance for one thing. I noticed upon watching the video that for some reason I stick my tongue out a lot. It may be that thing when you are concentrating on something or it may be the fact that my lips were chapped from the mountain wind. Maybe it’s just because I’m weird. Who knows. Oh well, enjoy!

Sawyer is a beautiful old boy! He has an aversion to stairs… and from the tone of his comments, appears to have a snarky side. I love him already.
Enjoyed the video. That looks like a wonderful place to walk. (Selfie stick trouble et al.)
Sluice gate was cool. But now you’ve got me curious about Love Mountain.
He says thank you and yes, he speaks snark fluently. Love Mountain is located near Lyndhurst, Virginia. It’s funny because the first time we stayed there was Valentine’s Day and also because our last name is Lovelace.
Sawyer has a GREAT fluffy tail, and from behind, it looks like he’s wearing pantaloons!
My only complaint was that the red lettered commentary was too tiny to read and wasn’t up long enough to try. Or maybe I’m just too old to read little letters anymore! Looked like Sawyer had more fun than you did!
Ha! It does look like he has on pantaloons. Sorry about his commentary. I first tried to use a golden font color since he’s a Golden Retriever but it didn’t look good. I played around with different colors to try and find one that would show up in every background. Red was the best I could come up with. So it’s not your eyes. It’s more likely the cut rate video editing software I use. I also found that if I left the captions up too long they blurred when the video shifted. He had a great time! Did it look like I wasn’t having a good time? I had a great time. You can tell by all the tongue wagging I did.

Sawyer’s a handsome boy, almost as fluffy as my Malamute!
Your video is meditative; something about the sound of steady footfalls on a beautiful forest trail.
Love how Sawyer greeted the woman hiker, took occasional dips to cool his jets.
But…where’s the snow?!
Glad you’re both getting out there in your beloved mountains!
Sawyer says thank you. It was very meditative to take that walk. The snow has been scarce this year. We are expecting some tonight though. I’m sure the boys will have fun playing in it tomorrow.
I need to get over to your blog and get caught up. I’ll do that soon.
Thank you for coming back to us, Arionis, despite your inclinations! Glad you had a good trip. Needless to say, I love your dog(s)!
I couldn’t leave you guys hanging! I’ll let the dogs know of your affection toward them.
Thanks again for the Sunshine Award! My next post will be in response.
That’s a beautiful area and I can see why Sawyer enjoys it so much–especially getting in the water. It cracks me up that he can’t resist that, and that he can’t resist going off-trail to go check things out. And, nothing personal, but his commentary was the most enjoyable. I especially liked it when he checked out the plaque then said “boring” and moved on.
It would be pretty cool if you could move there. Maybe you could even take up fishing, although it’s hard to imagine you, like Sawyer, wanting to stay in one place for that long.

Ha! He’s a much better commentator than I am. Like Rivergirl said, he can speak snark with the best of them.
What a pretty spot! Sawyer was so good to wait for you. It is nice to see you outside to get your walk in. You’ll be climbing that mountain again soon!
I surely hope so. Thanks Kristine!
