Turkey Day in North Carolina
The LeeLander landed in Franklin, NC for a couple of weeks last year in November. I had always wanted to visit Franklin because it’s an Appalachian Trail Town. I know, big shocker there, right? The bonus to this trip was that the daughter I had just made a connection with earlier in the year, also lived there. You won’t see anything about it in the video, though. It was our first time meeting IRL (other than when I held her shortly after she was born) and I didn’t want to overwhelm her by videoing. We went to dinner with her and her BF one night and it went really well. We visited Franklin again this last summer and spent a great deal of time with her. That one will have plenty of video of her. This one mostly focuses on our first time there, a weekend backpack trip, and our first Thanksgiving in the LeeLander. Even with editing, it is kinda long. If you view the full video on YouTube, there is a time index in the comments for different sections. Enjoy!

Is there history behind the erection of the tower? Not just for viewing is it?
The beautiful blue sky! And the various waterfalls & ponds, lakes and streams – my favorite parts.
Thanksgiving dinner looked delicious! What are this years (fingers crossed) plans?
Continued good health!
There was probably a fire tower there at one point. The one there now is just an observation post. This year I will be at my sister’s, hopefully recovering from a liver transplant, or getting ready to have one.
I just found this. Maybe you didn’t already know, but I thought it interesting.
MJ Eberhart, who goes by the trail name Nimblewill Nomad, became the oldest person ever to complete the 2,193-mile Appalachian Trail at age 83.
Yes! I’ve been following him all year. Quite the accomplishment and gives me hope!
Thumbs up! One for each of you! Is the surgery time getting close? Are we still hoping it takes place before Thanksgiving?
Things are not progressing as quickly as we hoped. I’ll be posting about it today.
