About This Small Cog
Everyone and their dog has a blog these days so I thought I’d carve out my own little niche in cyberspace. Does anyone even say cyberspace anymore? Anyway, I’m kind of a socially awkward dude who has thoughts running around inside his head. When I try to say them out loud I sound crazy. When I write them down I sound, well, crazy, but maybe just a little bit less than when I’m talking. So I figured I’d start this blog just to get these thoughts out. More than likely no one will be reading them but I need a place to put it down. I called it Just a Small Cog because I’m no one special, but I’d like to think that if I wasn’t around, the BIG machine known as life might not run as well. Right now this site is nothing to e-mail home about, but if I become less blog design challenged in the future I might spruce it up a bit.
My real name is Lee but I go by Arionis online. I made that name up for a D&D game back in high school. Yes, I was one of those geeks. Still pretty much am. Years later when I graduated from chatting on BBS’s to IRC on the internet I used that as my online nick and it’s stuck ever since. So, if you somehow found your way to this site I hope you might find some of my ravings entertaining. If you’d like to, please leave a comment, or contact me via e-mail or Twitter.
UPDATE: 03/21/2017 – I’ve been blogging for about eight months now and I’ve been having a great time putting down my various musings in print. Much to my utter amazement, there were people that actually read some of them, and even commented! I’d like to thank some of my earliest readers who helped me along, encouraged me, and made the whole effort worthwhile. Christopher Waldrop at Freethinkers Anonymous, Emelle at Ideas I’m Kicking Around, Mrs. Fancy Pants, and last but certainly not least, Linda at HalfA1000Miles. It was because of Linda that I modified my tagline to include the words (slightly dickish). After many discussions on her blog, she gave me the honorary title of The Slightly Dickish Customer Service Representative of her site, and I thought the title fit perfectly. Linda has currently taken a hiatus from the blogosphere, but I, among many others, hope she comes back to this world soon.
While a review of this blog by yours truly has resulted in the conclusion that it serves no redeeming value, I plan to continue on for the time being.
UPDATE: 12/09/2019 – Ha! Got you. There is no update.
UPDATE: 12/10/2019 – Actually, there is an update, so guess I got myself. It’s not much of an update though. I’m still trucking along with my non-sense. It’s been a tough year with some medical issues that made me neglect the blog for a bit, but I’ve managed to get back up on the horse. There’s several posts if you want to read about it. Another new thing is a series of posts that I’ve collaborated with Rebecca from Wild Sensibility about #EpicTrailFail stories. I’ve added these stories on another page. Click the Epic Trail Fails link at the top of the page if you want to check it out. That’s about it. Catch you later!
UPDATE: 2/26/2020 – I’ve added a chat feature to the blog! Check it out! Come hang out with chatty bloggers!
